Last month The Lord woke me up with this statement:" YOU PROVIDE THE WATER, I'LL TURN IT INTO WINE"
JOHN 2:1-7
2 On the third day there was a wedding at Cana of Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there; 2 and both Jesus and His disciples were invited to the wedding. 3 When the wine was all gone, the mother of Jesus said to Him, “[a]They have no more wine.” 4 Jesus said to her, “[Dear] woman, [b]what is that to you and to Me? My time [to act and to be revealed] has not yet come.”(A) 5 His mother said to the servants, “Whatever He says to you, do it.” 6 Now there were six stone waterpots set there for the Jewish custom of purification (ceremonial washing), containing twenty or thirty gallons each. 7 Jesus said to the servants, “Fill the waterpots with water.” So they filled them up to the brim. 8 Then He said to them, “Draw some out now and take it to the headwaiter [of the banquet].” So they took it to him. 9 And when the headwaiter tasted the water which had turned into wine, not knowing where it came from (though the servants who had drawn the water knew) he called the bridegroom, 10 and said to him, “Everyone else serves his best wine first, and when people have [c]drunk freely, then he serves that which is not so good; but you have kept back the good wine until now.”
There are so many things we could talk about in this passage, but we are going to concentrate on the water💧
What does the water in this passage represent?
Well, it represents different things.
The pots that were filled with the water were used for ceremonial washing. Jesus came to turn the water, the law and the prophets, into wine, the Holy Spirit, through His death and resurrection! The water pots were filled to the brim, He Has come to give us abundant life and to take what is old and make it new.
Water was the only liquid they had to fill the jars. He asks us to give Him all we have, so He can fill us with new wine, to let go of the past and the hurts and to trust Him with The new thing He's doing.
Isaiah 43:19 Behold, I will do a new thing, Now it shall spring forth; Shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness And rivers in the desert.
No more wine meant that the wedding was ruined and that the bride and groom were going to be embarrassed and criticized for running out of wine before the feast was over. Jesus cared, it wasn't too trivial of a concern to Him, because He didn't want the bride and groom to remember their wedding day with sorrow. He cares about every aspect of our lives no matter how small! He commanded the servants to fill the jars, and they obeyed, probably reluctantly, wondering: "how is this going to help with the wine??"
They were to bring the first taste of wine and food to the table master who was in charge of the whole banquet. I don't know you, but I would probably be terrified to bring water to the table master instead of wine! I could loose my job, be beaten and embarrassed in front of the guests. These servants had to exercise incredible obedience and faith in what Jesus told them to do! And guess what?? Their faith was rewarded! No doubt their life was changed from witnessing and being part of that miracle. The groom was complemented for serving the best wine for last! One act of obedience changed the whole outcome, preserved reputations, and undoubtedly changed the lives of those invloved.
To receive what we need, we have to obey what The Lord Is telling us to do! No matter how crazy it sounds. It usually is something totally out of our comfort zone, something totally outrageous! Just read the Bible! It is full of incredible acts of faith and obedience, and none of them went unrewarded. It might just be to stand on a word He gave you a long time ago.
IS HE ASKING YOU TO MOVE GEOGRAPHICALLY? IS HE ASKING YOU TO OPEN A BUSINESS? IS HE ASKING YOU TO START A MINISTRY? IS HE ASKING YOU TO MAKE A BIG DONATION? IS HE ASKING TO LET GO OF SOMETHING OR SOMEONE? IS HE ASKING YOU TO CALL SOMEONE TO ASK FOR FORGIVENESS? IS HE TELLING YOU THAT YOU ARE HEALED? IS HE ASKING YOU TO BELIEVE FOR SOMETHING YOU HAVE BEEN ASKING FOR?
STAND ON THOSE PROMISES, DON'T PARTNER WITH UNBELIEF AND DOUBT. KEEP DECLARING THOSE WORDS, DON'T FOCUS ON WHAT YOU SEE. THOSE JARS ARE NOT EMPTY, BUT FULL OF THE BEST WINE!
WHATEVER YOUR NEED MAY BE, BRING HIM THE "WATER", LET HIM TURN IT INTO WINE. HE WANTS TO BLESS YOU AND THOSE AROUND YOU.
